This
silhouette photo was taken by my 14-year-old son. I thought he did an awesome job! I coached him through it, telling him how to set the exposure for the sky and then focus on the subject. He would take a few....look at them, and get frustrated. Sometimes it was because he had our heads into the horizon, or the focus wasn't just right. Finally, when his hands were tired, and David was sick of looking at me cross eyed, he captured this one. Do you know what a feat this was? To get a man, even a man that likes you quite a bit, to stand still this long for a photograph?
(Sometimes it's like they're afraid you're going to steal their soul or something.)
Also, to keep a 14-year-old, whose first love is
not photography, interested and encouraged enough to take the photo?
It was worth it. It's my all time favorite picture of us.

I hadn't heard that your little Benji was moving away. I can imagine how hard that's going to be for his Nanny. I'll be praying for you when they move.

Cha, even though Aaron doesn't enjoy photography now, maybe after seeing how some of his own work actually turns out he'll have a change of heart down the road.

I'm sorry that Benji is moving away. Maybe they won't be there for a LONG time. Maybe you could read tape youself reading books to him, with a bell to indicate time to turn a page. He'll enjoy hearing your voice and learn from the books also. It will also warm his heart to have you sounding so close.
